About me

I discovered sailing in my early 20’s, thanks to a group of friends and it became an ever growing part of my life ever since.

I got my sailing license in 2000, a year after I got my diving license. My husband Erbil is also an experienced diver & sailor and we both enjoy spending a considerable part of our time on or around the sea.

We bought our first boat in 2003, “Kıymık” was a Fatih Gorbon designed sloop. It was originally built as a racing boat and we used her to sail through the Marmara Sea and the Princes’ Islands in Istanbul. We had to part with her when we moved to Brussels in 2006.

We both left the corporate world in 2015 to enjoy more flexible schedules and bought “Vagabond”, a 45ft Jeanneau that we keep in Göcek Turkey. Since then we are spending around 6 months a year on board.

During the last 20 years, together with my husband, we sailed the Turkish Riviera, Greek Islands, Croatia, Sicily, Aeolian Islands and Sardinia, both on charter boats and on our own boat. We also chartered various sail boats in the Caribbean at British Virgin Islands, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada.

I spend my winters in İstanbul and Brussels, two very different cities that are both very dear to me.

Istanbul is chaos and energy, one second driving me mad and the next, I fall in love with it over again. Brussels is calm with an understated elegance. And world class chocolate.
