When my friend Daniele learned that we’re going to his hometown, he not only made some excellent recommendations, he also made us a dinner reservation at Rose Garden Restaurant where his good friend Andrea is the head chef, promising us a dinner to remember. And Andrea delivered big time with his degustation menu.

We started with black squid with pea sauce served with a proseco cocktail and plate after plate we tasted great examples of the modern Italian cuisine.

We had seafood salade with papaya sauce which surprisingly added a new level of freshness to the fish, linguine with samphire and clams, gnocchi with fish and black truffle and an excellent grilled octopus on top of homemade bread.

When we reached the main dish – grilled turbot cooked with herbs and served with a light asparagus sauce – we were in some gastronomic heaven.

Andrea offered a dry white wine,
Monte Tondo Soave which went beautifully with the seafood.

The desert was a light anasin parfait with pineaples served with espresso.

All in all it was a feast for the palate as well as the eyes.

Grazie mille, Andrea. We’ll definetely be back.
